Plastic fragments in the oceans are now becoming pollution bases
Fine pieces of plastic that are less than five millimeters in size are now billions of billions of beaches and oceans, and they are now carrying around pollution and disease-causing components from one place to another by humans and marine animals. Have become a serious threat to the world.
Alexander Toura, an expert on the Oceanographic Institute at the Brazilian University of Sao Paulo, says that fine pieces of plastic have now become a foam for pollutants, organic compounds and other hazardous chemicals, in which they are absorbed at the tip of the wave. And are becoming a threat to marine life.
These pieces of plastic come from old clothes, seams, plastic bags, tires and garbage dumped on the beaches. The mutual conflicts in the sea keep them divided into fine pieces, and now the news is that the harmful chemicals and compounds are spreading far and wide.
Brazilian experts have deposited microplastics 39 km from the coast in southern Brazil. They found that the plastics also contained organic compounds, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The pollution is caused by the extraction and transport of oil into the oceans.
Experts say that the pollution itself can severely affect the physical, nervous and hormone systems of humans and animals. Thus, pieces of plastic have now become floating sponges that can adversely affect marine life. The dangerous thing is that if creatures swallow them, they continue to move from one animal to another as part of their food chain, even through fish and shrimps.
Experts say 80 million tons of plastic is being dumped into the oceans every year. This plastic is being transported to the oceans by the world's 10 largest river
